Andres Silvera is a 3rd year undergraduate majoring in Biological systems engineering. He is interested in working with and eventually designing controlled indoor farming systems such as aquaponics or vertical farming, and is currently helping with research on nutrient concentrations in a hydroponic system. He is also interested in cooking and visual arts, such as video editing, drawing, and holiday decorations. He is working on how nutrient deficits affect hydroponic lettuce.  He is helping collect data through photometric analysis with colorimetric reagents based on ion concentrations, as well as with an ion probe, which is easier to use but less accurate.
